Uses

Steel, Galvanized Steel, Masonry, Concrete, Drywall, Nonferrous Metal. Excellent for use in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, municipalities, institutions and where low odor systems are required.

Limitations

Will not cure when temperature is below 50°F. Do not apply when rain is expected, if relative humidity is greater than 90% or temperature is above 90°. Most high gloss enamels become slippery when wet. To ensure maximum safety on horizontal surfaces, a small amount of sand or pumice may be added to give coating nonskid characteristics. All epoxy coatings will chalk and fade if applied on exterior surfaces subjected to direct sunlight. Under certain environmental conditions epoxy coatings will yellow. Where color and gloss retention are important, top coating will be necessary. Clear coating is slightly amber when applied. Will stain with prolonged exposure to brake fluid or in a kennel if exposed to animal waste. This staining will not affect the durability or protective qualities of the coating.

4 hour pot life. Will be less at higher temperatures. 30 minute induction period.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be sound, dry, clean and free of oil, grease, dirt, mildew, mill scale, form release agents, curing compounds, loose and flaking paint and any other surface contaminants.

NEW SURFACES:
CONCRETE AND MASONRY - All masonry surfaces must be allowed to cure a minimum of 30 days before painting. Acid etch or abrasive blast all slick, glazed concrete or concrete with laitance. For acid etching, follow all manufacturers directions and safety instructions. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Prime porous concrete with 1 coat an epoxy pre-primer. New Concrete Block must be filled using an Epoxy Block Filler or an Acrylic Block Filler. Do not coat any masonry surface with a pH above 10.
STEEL AND FERROUS METALS - All direct to metal coatings provide maximum performance over near white metal blasted surfaces [SSPC-SP-10]. There are however, situations and cost considerations which may prevent this type of surface preparation from being done. ALLPRO coatings have been designed to provide protection over less than ideal surfaces. The recommended standard is a commercial blast [SSPC-SP-6]. The steel profile after the blast should be 1- 2 mils and be jagged in nature. Surfaces must be free of grit dust. The primer should be applied as soon as possible after the blast in order to prevent flash rusting or surface contamination. Hand tool cleaning [SSPC-SP-2] or power tool cleaning [SSPC-SP-3] can be used if blasting is not possible. In areas where adequate surface preparation is not possible, the use of an epoxy pre-primer is recommended. In highly corrosive areas where additional rust inhibitive qualities are required, prime with 1 coat of a zinc rich primer prior to applying epoxy coatings.
GALVANIZED AND NONFERROUS METALS - Solvent clean all surfaces. Apply 1 coat of a Vinyl Wash Primer.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES - Can be applied over old thermoset finishes in good condition. Glossy areas should be dulled by abrading the surface. If paint is peeling, or badly weathered, remove all loose paint, clean surface and proceed as for new surface.

Application

MIXING: ALLPRO Waterborne Epoxy Amine consists of a partially filled gallon of Component 'A' and a full quart of Component 'B', yielding a volume mix ratio of 3:1 and a full gallon.

  1. Stir each component thoroughly with a separate clean paddle.
  2. Pour total volume of Component 'B' into the Component 'A' container. Be certain to incorporate all of 'B' into 'A' as this affects the accuracy of the color and hiding.
  3. Stir mixture of Component 'A' and 'B' thoroughly and induct for 30 minutes. Must be applied within 4 hours after mixing.

APPLICATION: Apply with brush, roller or spray. Roll: 1/6" - 1/2" synthetic roller cover. Keep roller wet. Roll in one direction, rewet, then cross roll.

Airless Spray settings @ 77º:
Tip Size: .013 - .017
Atomization Pressure: 1000-1500 psi

May be force dried at up to 140ºF. Dries to touch in 2 hours. May be put into service after 12 hours. Recoatable in 16 - 24 hours.

Clean Up

Clean up immediately after use with soap and water.

Disposal

Contains solvents dispose of properly.

NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and central nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling contents may be harmful or fatal.

To avoid breathing vapors or spray mist, open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application an drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or dizziness or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor/mist levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate properly fitted respirator (see Code of Federal Regulations 42 CFR 84) during and after application. Follow respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. Close container after each use. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling.

If spilled, contain spilled material and remove with inert absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and unused contents in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

FIRST AID: in case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention immediately. Wash clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes. If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Call physician immediately. In case of medical emergency, call 1-800-424-9300.
