Waterborne Acrylic Direct-To-Metal Enamel

ALLPRO® Corporation

Description

An extremely durable, water borne modified acrylic enamel, which provides superior adhesion and abrasion resistance. For use on most interior and exterior surfaces where maximum, durability is desired. Excellent for use over new, properly prepared metal and most baked enamel surfaces. Contains a flash rust inhibitor allowing for direct to metal applications without the need of a primer coat.

Prominent Features
  • ASTM 3359 Cross Hatch Adhesion - 5
  • ASTM D522 Flexibility (conical mandrel) ¼" - pass
  • ASTM B117 Salt Fog Resistance - 150 Hours - No Effect
  • Exterior Exposure - 45° South Florida - 6 months, Gloss Retention - 80° minimum
Uses

Steel, Galvanized Steel, Aluminum, Masonry, Concrete, Wood, Machinery, Plaster, Drywall, Properly Prepared Ferrous, and Nonferrous Metals.

Limitations

Do not apply when temperature is below 50°F or when rain is expected. Most high gloss enamels become slippery when wet. To ensure maximum safety on horizontal surfaces, a small amount of sand or pumice may be added to give coating nonskid characteristics. Not suitable for immersion service.

Surface Preparation

Surface must be clean, dry and free of rust, dirt, oil, grease, old loose paint, and other foreign matter.

STEEL AND GALVANIZED METAL should be clean and have a slight surface profile. An SSPC-SP-6 commercial blast is preferred for maximum performance. If this is not feasible, power or hand tool cleaning is acceptable. Product is self priming when 2 coats are applied. Maximum corrosion protection will be achieved through the use of a rust inhibitive primer, especially under darker colors. Pre-finished Siding [Baked on finishes] - 1 coat primer.
BARE WOOD should be sanded smooth. Prime with appropriate wood primer for best results.
NEW CURED OR UNPAINTED CONCRETE - acid etch, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and allow to dry before applying coating. Previously painted surfaces - glossy areas should be dulled by abrading the surface. If paint is peeling, or badly weathered, clean surface and proceed as for new surface.

Application

Stir paint thoroughly before using. Apply with brush, roller or spray. Will cover most previously painted surfaces in one coat. Two coats will give surfaces better durability. Previously uncoated surfaces should be given two coats. Apply a full wet coat of 5.0 - 5.5 mils wet film thickness. 1.8 - 2.0 mils dry. No reduction is necessary. If thinning is necessary, use water. Do not add any more than ½ pint of water per gallon. Remove all splatters immediately.

Airless Spray settings @ 77º:
Tip Size: .015 - .019
Atomization Pressure: 1000-1500 psi

Clean Up

Clean up immediately after use with soap and water.

Disposal

Contains solvents dispose of properly.
